Brother Nature Certified Organic Seeds sprang to life in 2002 driven by a passion for nature, healthful gardening & an inexpensive way to provide fail safe, healthy seeds and plants, for our own private greenhouses, that supply our 25 year old landscaping business. We located a suitable plot on a Historic Farm in the Cowichan Valley, BC, Canada and began our project. It was tremendously successful hobby that has blossomed into a small successful business.
The staff of Brother Nature include 2 full time and 1 part time employee. So as you can imagine we are busy as bees and love every minute of it. Our goal is not to provide large quanities of seed, so much as a large selelction. Many of the seeds we offer are Heirloom and Heritage, and we strongly encourage you saving seed of the plants you grow, so you may use them again next year and help us keep truly healthy seed strains alive for future generations. I will not go into the importance of the FUTURE of FOOD because you are already on this site you are most certainly aware of the trouble with GMO'S, fertilizer, pesticides.
Gordon and I are in touch with our product from start to finish. We grow it, collect it, process it and even print our own envelopes. We also built and maintain this website ourselves all the while running the original company Brincks Landscaping and Maintenance
We strive to leave as little of a footprint on the planet as possible. All of our packing material is eco-made.We even choose to hand address your orders as opposed to printing labels. Not becasue we have to, but because it is eco friendly. Sometimes the old world ways never lose their charm.
While many of the seeds we sell we will always carry, we also enjoy bringing in previously non certified organic seed and going through the process of turning it into a certified, vegetable and flower alike. :)
Often times it is difficult to get perennial , annual , and herb seed that has not in some way been touched by chemicals at some point in its replication. So we grow the seed out of plants we wish to gain a certified status on an entirely seperate property in a differnt town for at least 2 years before we will reintroduce it to the public for purchase. Our desire is that other growers will choose these certified selections over the traditional chemical dependant versions for the health of the planet and themselves.
During our 12 years in the organic business, it has come to our attention that there are far to many unknown varieites out there.
Varieites long forgotten because of industry selection for mass production value. This leads consumers to believe that the varieities not choosen by industry may not perform as well or have less taste

What we do...
Welcome to Brother Nature.ca where our passion is Certified Organic gardening. It is a pleasure and our duty to preserve and protect and teach about sustainable seed, soil & food sources. Our desire is to support any agricultural process that leads to healthier people, plants and soil. Our highly diverse gardens, tended to in an organic style (with crop rotation and companion planting etc.) creates a well balanced, sustainable and healthy environment. These organic practices have proven there is never a need for artificial inputs that can and will alter the natural reproductive capabilities of our plants and their environment.
We grow and sell 100% Certified Organic.... this means zero pesticides, herbicides or chemicals are added to our plot or plants...ever!! We do not grow or sell genetically modified seeds. We also eat many of the vegetables and edible flowers that are produced in our gardens, so we are diligent about our grow process for our own health purposes.
When we amend our garden soil it is provided by an organic soil producer or it the amendments are made fromour own monitored compost pile.
All of our plants are openly pollinated, our water source is spring fed and we hand weed, pick, clean and package in an eco-friendly packaging. We do not treat or coat our seed with anything and we personally germination test every batch, every year so we know our product will meet your expectations.
People love to tell us about their success and rave about the quality of our seeds. Many have commented on the generous seed count in the packages, where as other seed companies provide only the exact number specified, we package by inverse ratio to the germination rates. We want to be sure that a 100 seed count package provides 100 germinated seeds.
At Brother Nature we sell you trust.
Enjoy your Garden and thank you for investing in sustainable agriculture.
Safe Seed Pledge
Agriculture and seeds provide the basis upon which our lives depend. We must protect this foundation as a safe and genetically stable source for future generations. For the benefit of all farmers, gardeners and consumers who want an alternative, we pledge that we do not knowingly buy or sell genetically engineered seeds or plants. The mechanical transfer of genetic material outside of natural reproductive methods and between genera, families or kingdoms, poses great biological risks as well as economic, political, and cultural threats. We feel that genetically engineered varieties have been insufficiently tested prior to public release. More research and testing is necessary to further assess the potential risks of genetically engineered seeds. Further, we wish to support agricultural progress that leads to healthier soils, genetically diverse agricultural ecosystems and ultimately people and communities.
Health Tip: Remember to stretch before you go in your garden...Young and old alike...after a long cool season we need to break our bodies in slowly. Stretching will increase your mobility in the garden, and will allow you to enjoy your gardening endeavors just a little longer and may help avoid those next day aches and pains.
