Notes: Ice Plant is a stunning sun lover that only opens on warm days. Ice plant is a small succulent ground cover that grows almost clump like in form. Its brilliant, almost fluorescent colour in spring is very unique in appearance. The plant is covered with bladder-like cells that store water. They glisten in the sun giving it an appearance of ice crystals.


Instructions: Sow indoors in March or outdoor in May. 1 to 2 mm deep.


Habitat: Best suited to poor, well drained soils.


History: Native to South Africa

Bachelor Button - Bachelor buttons colourful drifted blossoms are great cut flowers. They are long-lived and cold hardy and do well even in poor soil and dry areas. Great dried flower as the colour remains strong. Just remember to cut them before they are fully open for optimal results.   Cerinthe -  This highly sought after and sometimes hard to find beauty, self sows and makes a great cut-flower for  dinner bouquets as a conversation piece.  Cerinthe attracts bees and other nectar feeders.  Sow several in one area to accomplish the wow factor. Or, it is also fantastic for borders, boasting its rich sky blue bracts contrasting with deep purple blue flowers. This outstanding annual is hardy up to - 5. To use Cerinthe Major as a cut flower, the ends of the stem need to be either dipped in hot water or flamed.Adds a striking feature to basic bouquets. Not common in the average gardens.   Gloriosa Daisy - Produces loads of super colourful yellow to orange flowers with maroon red centers in various blends. Superb for large containers or beds, dry conditions or poor soil and it will perennialize in warmer climates. Attracts bees and butterflies and is a wonderful cut-flower.
