Pickling Cucumbers


Notes: Homemade pickles provide loads of solid, crisp, sweet and tasty pickling cucumbers.Harvest when small for baby pickles or at 5-6 inches for larger pickles or spears. Grow on a cage or trellis for longer, straighter fruits. Keep well picked for larger yields. Proven disease resistance.


Instructions: Plant 1 to cm deep. 3 seeds per hill 2 weeks after last frost. Grow in rich soil. Does best when trellised. Can be started indoors and transplanted to gardens in late Spring.

Cabbage  - Called All Seasons because of its cold and heat resistance this variety produces large 10-11   Spinach -Red Mountain Orach  -  Adds texture, colour and flavour to salads. Red Mountain Spinach can grow to  5 or 6 feet making it an attractive edible plant whose succulent leaves do not bitter if they bolt. Produces a beautiful bloom, so if you're able, let one bolt on purpose. The seed provided by the plant will attract beneficial birds and insects to your garden as well as provide you with an attractive conversation piece. Grows best in a sunny and well-drained location. Sow seed directly when earth can be worked and temperatures and after the last frost. The leaves are extremely tender when harvested young.
  Arugula - Cold hardy annual salad green. Self-sows if left to go to seed in warmer climates. That quality makes it a great addition to a salad lovers garden as it is a perpetual cycle that consistently provides dark green leaves have a strong spicy flavour and aroma. Plant in late August for early spring harvest. Sow every 2 to 3 weeks when harvesting for steady supply for your salads and garnishes. Goes very well in Pesto. May also be sauteed in olive oil. Tasty!!
